About Our Club
Campus Kiva Slo was started by Inna Treyger, Melissa Feldman, Kaitlyn Hemingway, and Alan Crosby in April 2009 as a way to:
- Empower the Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo community to make a difference to people in need
- Spread awareness about Kiva and microfinance/microlending
- Provide a social environment for those looking to change the world!

About Kiva
Kiva is the first website that allows people to make loans directly to entrepreneurs all over the world. Here is the process:
- Choose an entrepreneur on the kiva website, learn their story, and make a loan as little as $25.
- Once the full amount of the requested loan is raised (loans are a couple hundred on average), the loan goes directly to the entrepreneur with the help of third part microfinance institutions.
- You receive updates on how your entrepreneur's business is doing, and after a certain amount of time you start getting small payments back!
- Once the 25 dollars is repaid, you can withdraw the funds, pick another entrepreneur to lend to, or donate the money to kiva!
